Welcome to the SecurityDreamer blog, where I publish insights and suggestions about security, technology, society, and quality improvement.

Here’s a bit about me:

Steve Hunt, CPP CISSP, is an industry adviser, futurist and consultant.  He was inducted into the ISSA Hall of Fame in 2009 for his achievements in IT security.  The physical security industry named him one of the 25 most influential people in the industry (Security Magazine) and CSO [Chief Security Officer] Magazine presented him with the “Industry Visionary” Compass Award.

For 25 years Steve’s career has spanned the breadth of the security industry: physical, homeland, corporate, and data security. From 1998 to 2005 he ran security and risk management think tanks at Giga Information Group and Forrester Research.  Previously Steve served as technical director for an Israeli security company. Earlier, Steve worked as a consultant to Chicago’s financial community. Throughout the 1980s, he implemented and designed security for facilities, physical access control systems, disaster recovery, alarms, and surveillance.

As a recognized expert on best practices, security trends, and emerging technologies, Steve has advised hundreds of the world’s largest organizations, including the United Nations, the White House, US Department of Transportation, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, 3i Group, Bank of Montreal, Allstate Insurance, AXA Group, Aegon, Pfizer, Exxon Mobil, Société Générale, BP, Microsoft and IBM. Steve is a regular keynote speaker at business and security conferences around the world. He also appeared as a homeland security analyst on CNBC, Fox News, CNN, and other news shows. His analysis has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The New York Times, Business Week, and other global publications and trade magazines.

Steve attended Elizabethtown College and was a graduate fellow at University of Chicago.  He is an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media.

Steve’s diverse background in security lends a fresh perspective on the industry.

I was wondering if you were still keeping an eye on Schneider/Pelco and the security industry. Curious about what you may be hearing through the industry grapevine. A couple recent developments here that I am in the process of writing about. I hope we get some time to talk. Thanks!

We host educational seminars on the latest technology for our customers, prospects, A&E’s and consults refered to a VTI “U”. It has been well received and a successful event. We do not charge a fee and provide lunch. Do you speak at events like the one I have described above and if yes, is there a fee? Thank you for your assistance.

Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your
favourite reason seemed to be at the web
the simplest thing to understand of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people think
about worries that they just don’t recognize about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and outlined out the entire thing without having side effect , folks could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thank you

Just what are some people’s experiences regarding employment advancement
within the security area? I’d at some point want to turn out doing work in the police force and
I am thinking if I could just move directly into that
or check the waters with something less intense.
Has anyone started out in basic security and got working with law

I ddo consider all of the concepts you’ve presented in your post.

They are very convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very quick for beginners.
Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thank you for
    the post.
