The “security convergence” story has come a long way

I like this quote from the TechSec Solutions conference website.  I'm guessing it was written by the lovely and talented Rhianna Daniels

Well, five years
later, here we are. The security market is now buffeted daily by moves
made by Cisco, IBM, EMC, Sun Microsystems and Oracle. Today. Axis
Communications is one of the five largest camera makers in the world.
HID just partnered with Dell. Panasonic, Honeywell, Sony and Bosch all
tout their new IP cameras to the virtual exclusion of their analog
products. The guy who created Hotmail — Jack Smith — is now the CEO of
command-and-control software firm Proximex.

Oh how time changes everything. Convergence has not taken over the security world, GE did not consolidate the industry and some of the most visable figures in the security industry are nothing more then a memory.

I stand corrected. I meant the lovely and talented Sam Pfeifle. 🙂
And to David’s point: what rock are YOU sleeping under?
