My sources say the Pelco sale is a done deal, but Pelco’s CEO says “no”

How many times has the little bird whispered in your ear that Pelco was going to get bought?  Just in the last year, I’ve heard it three times.  Within the last two months, however, that bird suddenly sounded very convincing and yesterday this article showed up in the local Fresno paper.Pelco_logo

Seems to me like a good time for Pelco to take a jump.  The company is continuing to experience strong sales, customers are happy, and the channel is productive.  The only thing missing is a future.  Pelco has no IP story to speak of, and its core technologies are rooted solidly in the 1980s and 90s. So growing the company on its own will require an expensive overhaul of product development and channel training.  On the other hand, a sale to Schneider Electric would give the brand the boost it needs to broaden its channel and add years to product line.

Is a Pelco-Schneider deal good for the industry? I think so.  Is it good for you?  Hm?
